Reliving the events surrounding the feast of Pentecost—that is the aim of the latest edition of community. The current issue focuses on this central divine service and the activities associated with it. And naturally there are all sorts of other interesting things to discover as well.

Our objective is a church that is open to everyone so that everyone feels welcome. This is not always easy, but the members,are making every effort to ensure that everyone finds their place in the church. Whether it is a celebration, a workshop, or a divine service, everyone is welcome.

Already today we receive extra lessons from the Holy Spirit on the subject of serving and reigning. How exactly He goes about this is explained by District Apostle Helper John Schnabel from the United States in his Spotlight article.

The story has a happy ending: “Never forget that no matter what happens, now is not the end of the story,” says the Chief Apostle. Blessing can, however, be experienced already before that as the story of Joseph shows us.

This much is clear: in areas where the Bible is not clear, it will be sorted out by the Church. This then gives rise to the next question regarding the matter of the ordination of women: how were things sorted out until now? The answer: in a variety of ways and based on weak arguments.

“If we want to preserve what we have, we will have to change many things,” was the guiding principle of Chief Apostle Richard Fehr, who died ten years ago today on 30 June 2013. Many of the innovations today can be traced back to his initiative.

The Church is more than just faith, doctrine, and community. It also involves organisation. By what principles is the institution to be governed? And how can these be implemented on a global scale? This is the current focus of the Church’s leadership.

“Trust in the gift of the Holy Spirit.” This was the appeal made by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider in the central Pentecost service he conducted in Cape Town in South Africa. For in this way, believers are equipped with everything they need to reach their goal.

The Chief Apostle also sang along, but only during the opening hymn. Then he left the stage to the choir, orchestra, and the children’s choir for the 2023 Pentecost concert. During the last piece, the audience was allowed to sing along once more.

Working with heart, soul, and mind: discussions by the District Apostle Meeting were on the agenda for day two and three of the 2023 Pentecost council in Cape Town.

The feast before the feast: twenty-two congregations across the Western Cape had their midweek service conducted by a District Apostle or a District Apostle Helper. The congregation in Tafelsig experienced a special surprise—and for good reason.

Over the next few days, the focus of the New Apostolic world will be on Cape Town in South Africa. The Chief Apostle and the District Apostles have gathered in the city for the International District Apostles’ Meeting. They will conduct divine services, attend a concert in Silvertown, and celebrate the birthday of the church on Pentecost.
