A world trip without an airplane? You don’t even have to leave home for it. Let the new issue of community show you around. Following in the footsteps of the Chief Apostle and their brothers and sisters in faith, readers can once again travel the world—from the sofa or from the pew after the divine service, wherever they choose to read the magazine.

“If we want to preserve what we have, we will have to change many things,” was the guiding principle of Chief Apostle Richard Fehr, who died ten years ago today on 30 June 2013. Many of the innovations today can be traced back to his initiative.

The divine services in the month of July talk about places of joy and salvation. Whether souls happen to be here on earth or in the beyond, God creates places of refuge and joy for all.

This is a kind of less is more approach: those who give things up for God will get more in the end than they ever gave up. The Chief Apostle explained the whys and wherefores in a divine service.

“Riddle” is another way of translating the Greek word used for “parable” in the Bible. And rarely does this word fit the bill as well as it does in John 10: 1–30. This is where the good shepherd is at home, and with Him a whole tangle of parables.

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.’” It was the authority mentioned in Matthew 28: 18 which the Chief Apostle explored in this year’s Easter service.

Reaching out to all people in order to teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ: the mission of the New Apostolic Church is not least a question of communication. What is the best way to do this? Here are some answers from three different continents.

Switzerland will now also receive a District Apostle Helper. He has been designated to succeed District Apostle Jürg Zbinden. This is the fourth such assignment in a short period of time. The designated successor is a Swiss national and already works for the New Apostolic Church Switzerland.

It is not through His suffering that Jesus Christ can redeem human beings, but through His obedience. This is what the Chief Apostle pointed out in a recent divine service. And he also explained how everyone can participate in it.

What about the position of women in the early Christian churches? The biblical findings are riddled with contradictions. How does the New Apostolic Church see this? Here is the second interim conclusion on the question of what the New Testament says about the ordination of women.

Not only the ministers and those who have functions in the Church are committed, but members of all ages. Everyone contributes their gifts be it in making music, knitting for the less fortunate, or by sharing advice with others.

In a difficult period, the psalmist wrote that he would commit his spirit into God’s hand. In a divine service recently, the Chief Apostle showed that this still works today. And it is not just our spirit that can be placed into God’s hand.
